Terahertz generation from laser-induced plasma

Interest of the research in terahertz (THz) wave has been strongly motivated by its wide applications fields physics, chemistry, biology, and engineering. Developing efficient reliable THz source is uttermost priority these researches. Numerous attempts have made fulfilling generation. Greatly benefited from progress ultrafast pulses, laser-induced-plasma one auspicious tools to provide desirable waves, owing superiorities high power threshold, intense signal, ultrawide spectrum. This paper reviews physics generation laser-induced plasmas, which are produced gas, liquid, solid. The characteristics emitted waves also included. There many complicated physical processes involved interactions laser-plasma, making various laser-plasma scenarios generations. In view this, we will only focus on classified mechanisms. Finally, discuss a perspective future plasma, as well challenges.
